Accessed from entrance to MOD compound. Sheep in field to left; low (i.e. easily crossable) electric fence sections off the trig and the bales stacked alongside the fence before it. Gate at far end of barbed wire fence means trig can also be accessed from the field to the right with little difficulty. Trig in good condition, but doesn't have much of a view.

Pulled in at entrance to mast compound on west side of barrow. Walked around gate into field and behind mast compound, about a hundred metres south east of the mast. Hidden by bales on the approach. Location slightly spoiled by piles of straw bales wrapped in plastic. A bit drizzly at the time so not much of a view apart from masts to west and south east and bales of straw. Interesting that the FB has not been defaced by the usual culprit, yet. Thank you to Pete the trig hunter for information about the history of this TP.

The slightly sad appearance of this trig point behind a fence and surrounded by bales belies its true glory. Bulbarrow is the third highest point in Dorset and this is one of the primary trigs meaning it is one of the 310 first trigs set up in 1936 as the primary grid of the UK. Bulbarrow was also used as one of the spots for the Principal Triangles in the very first Trigonometrical Survey in 1798. Some of the lengthy views it has are now obscured, but it is an important point in the grand history of mapmaking!

We approached from the west so the large stack of silage bales didn't obscure the trig for us.
