I cycled the lane from Earl Sterndale to Axe Edge a few weeks ago. I noticed a new gravel cycleway had opened from this lane to Harpur Hill. I went back today to use it toward the block. Left bike at gate with yellow ROW arrow. Almost immediately saw block marked 4. Easy walk across grass amongst sheep. The field I was heading for was being criss-crossed by a Landrover and contained more sheep. By the gate was block 12. I was stood by the gate when the lady drove across. Access politely but firmly refused. I think only the third ocassion in my trigging.

Great views. However didn’t have chance to take photo due to being escorted away by landowner

Enjoyed this one, having a bit of local knowledge and having climbed in the quarry before helped access the location, great views of Buxton on a clear day.

Parked on Burlow Road, very close to one of my favourite book shops, the High Peak Bookstore (which now doubles up as a cafe), which I often visit when I am in the area. From Burlow Road, took the public right of way (PRoW) from SK 08597 69772 to SK 07906 69572. Then continued along the PRoW from SK 07906 69572 to SK 06962 70284, which runs alongside a dismantled railway. Horrible path, which has been extremely poorly maintained. Very rough under foot, and it has thick head high foliage to wade through. From SK 06962 70284, took the PRoW / path up to SK 06658 70244. I then climbed over a gate at SK 06658 70244, and took the path from there up to SK 06299 70324. I then climbed a gate on the north side of the path into the trig field, and climbed up the hill to the summit and block, which is in very good condition. Fantastic views all round. Took the same route back up to the point at SK 07237 70210. However, at this point, I really did not feel like wading through the thick head high foliage again by the dismantled railway. So this time, I walked down Hillhead Lane from SK 07237 70210 on to Burlow Road at SK 07181 70511. It was then a straigtforward walk back to my car in the lay-by on the same road. 7 of 7 today in the Peak District

Used the Ted route from the SE no problems except a field full of beef cattle and calves. Good views from the top impressive cliffs people walking at base to the blue lagoon lake.

There was an immense feeling of smugness today. I was the 3rd person to have visited this trig, and 2nd person to find it. CEs never gobbled it up....feeling even smugger. I walked to "Middle Earth" from Buxton and pottered from the N through the quarries to arrive at my "quarry"...the white stone next to the trig drew me to it. Exited by description below, which is the safest way to arrive/depart (local knowledge got me into and through the quarries). I gift this trig to Derbyshire police who took an awful lot of unjust flack last week. Drones and the "blue lagoon" were mentioned. This "blue lagoon" is east of this trig and is dyed black every year to stop people bathing in "bleach" ph 11 +. The Derbyshire police are doing a spendid job in these trying times.

This is described in the OSGB36 list as an "ICI Block". The site has a deep quarry to E, W and N but is accessible from the S. The grid reference is marked on the OS Explorer map as a 'Tumulus', just S of the quarry edge. Various footpaths are marked on the map. Approached from the SE following a disused railway line, signed as a Bridle Way. Then NW along paths and farm track to SK063703 where the track loops back to S. At this point, a concrete block numbered '12' may be noted next to the fence. Cross by the metal gate and then head up the gentle slope to the trig location. Found another concrete block, numbered '9' at the grid ref so assumed that this is the ICI block in question. Roughly the same size as an FBM, slightly tapered, with a hole centre top containing a small rivet. If visiting, please take care not to overshoot - the quarry edge is very close and appears to be unprotected. Rejoined the railway line and then followed this ~NW past the "Blue Lagoon" until a track angles back down to the road junction next to the Inn at Harpur Hill, where there is a sign "White Peak Loop".
