1/2 from lay-by on A481. Up along the PROW to field gate. On step over and to trig up step bank. Trig has memorial plaques in place. Amazing views of surrounding mountains. Beacons in the distance. Trig is in good condition. Spider, plug and FB intact.

Easy parking due to pullin SE and directly to top along road and PROW. Amazing ups and downs formed here, great sunshine as we hit the top for a picnic too. Trig good a little screed off on one corner but spider, 4 SH open, FB and cap in place. Tributes for two who had their ashes scattered here. Looped around to make a circular walk of this passing cows and calves on route.

Was on a Marilyn bagging walk but detoured to take in this pillar along with the other lower Tump summit. Parked on layby to the south on the main road then up the lane to complete a clockwise walk around the three tops.

From layby SE of trig on A481. Up lane right by lay by, Pentre area, then right of way to 'black dot' path. Down through ferns and steep up to trig. Good views on a very windy and showery day. Same route down.

The pillar is sited on a moorland hill to the north east of Builth Wells. The site was approached from the large layby on the A481 near Pentre to the south. The minor road and bridleway track were used to reach the hillside. A path across the access land led to a gateway to the east of the trig. The pillar has a metal cap with shallow, indented lettering and a memorial plaque attached and FB S5535. There is some minor damaged to the top surface screed.It has a wide view of the surrounding moorland hills and valleys.

The route up from the south was not too good. Track churned up by tractors and lots of gnats about. At this time of year! Views were terrific.

From The Banks on dry lunch time. Bagged Marilyn top first before trig then waited for AA to pull me out of soggy road side verge that I was pushed off road by ASDA internet delivery van.

Had tried for this pillar before from the North on ROW but had the Mutt in tow and been deterred by farm dogs. So went today "sans chien" ..sadly also went "sans le carte!" so having tried to remember where i meant to park eventually parked up to the South on a minor road and enjoyed a trip of about 2 miles on a GPS only .So professional ! Pillar is fine with excellent views of surrounding hills .

A long overdue visit to one of my nearest unvisited trig/marilyn combinatations. So another childrens party and another local visit. Used the NW bridleway to gain the access land with parking not on the right angle bend but near a gate about 250 to the N. Screed still largely intact with a memorial tag on the side opposite the FB. One to save for a good day as the views of the surrounding hills are excellent

Not the marilyn summit, but another bump on this knobbly upland. Carried on to Aberedw Hill and a Christmas drink in The Eagle in New Radnor.
