From Castle Cary headed uphill onto Lodge Hill. Benches on top of the hill come into view first. Then further on towards south and west, beacon and view point visible on slightly higher ground. Wondered if pillar was on view point but then spotted it about fifty metres to the east on top of the reservoir compound. Over gate to path behind viewing area. Not looking too promising. Tall perimeter fence with three strands of barbed wire along the top. One or two dog walkers about. But it was quite windy and rain not far away otherwise probably more people would have been around. Tricky one. Good views all around. Glastonbury Tor recognisable to west. Other landmarks pointed out by topograph or toposcope in viewing area.

When I got to the dreadful viewing platform, I looked through the telescope but couldn't see the TP because there was a bush in the way. If townies come to the countryside because it is beautiful, why can't they just leave it as they find it ? I suppose in this case though it could be argued that the water company had allready left its mark.
