Parked in lay-by near station walked north up minor road, then diagonally right up a rough path at the sharp bend, up to trig. Still managing to dodge some nasty winter showers

Enroute from Southfield Bank Trig to the M&S in Ulverston for my tea. Followed the road to the end and carefully parked so not blocking any of the gates. Quick walk up the hill.

Approached from the N and a short saunter on a PRoW bought me almost to this pillar. A perfect autumnal day 10/10, couldn't wish for better, plus tummy stuffed with two cheese/onion pies from Dunnerdale race. Two pillars gifted to the best pies in the Lakes.

Parked on minor road at T junction sd212853.Walked the coast to coast pathway to Coal Gate. Amazing houses en route with even more wonderful views of Duddon Sands. At Coal Gate a farm track leads uphill and west to a stone wall and open access onto summit. There is the trig.Another cement pillar, spider core has been infilled. Flaking on NE top corner. An easy trig for wonderful views

Not a planned visit, but after the frustrations of trying to find toppled pillars on the coast, I just fancied a quick reliable viewpoint on my way home. This one did the trick, from the end of the lane and a short hop from the gate. Really good views of a serrated Lakeland skyline and some Duddon Estuary chucked in.

Parked at SD 2181 8683, not ideal but it worked. Pillar sits just off a RoW. Some of the top screed missing; top cap has gone, mortar plug seals the central tube; RHS sight hole open. Extensive views.

Parked same place as jamiekeighley and followed PROW up to pillar. Apart from a small chip to top screed pillar is in good condition, one sight hole open, concrete cap. Excellent views from pillar.

A waterproofs & wellies trig bagging day. Parked outside the disused garage near the level crossing. Walked up lane then driveway to Well House then along right of way for short while and finally across to trig.

What a debacle. Decided to approach from Broughton in Furnace using public footpaths shown on the map. All was going well as we crossed the golf course near Eccle Riggs but as we started crossing the low field, we discovered it was swimming in water. After I went up to my ankle in the mud for the third time, we gave up on that route. After a consolation ice cream I headed back to the main A595 to try again. Immeditely south of the trig a public footpath sets of from a convienient mini layby. It quickly joins a cement track, goes through someone's garden (a bit disconcerting) and deposits you just below the trig. Simples.

Revisit for photographs and GPS Reading. Approached from SSW. Parked by level crossing, south side of road at SD211852. Followed mapped RoW network to just west of Well House, then beeline for summit. Grazing top. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre capped with hollow sounding cement. Flush bracket faces northeast, ~40°. Vented through NW sight hole. Panoramic view from top.

First of day managed to park in front of a house on road main road,PROW blocked by cows and calves had to walk round field edges this was to be the turn of events for most of the day!Trig is ok great views from here cloud starting to break blue sky showing.

Parked at end of lane, friendly farmer was in the yard and readily gave permission to park car and gave directions to pillar. On arrival a pillar saw farmer driving round fields with his young son on the quadbike. Concrete damaged on top surface

We parked at Coal Gate Farm. When you go through the gate into the pasture head straight up to the left and you will come to a gate in the wall that gives access to the trig field. Rough grazing pasture with bullocks (friendly). Plug with indented lettering.

First visit. To record FB number. Approached from north. The pillar was completed in May 1949 costing £7.1s.10½d. In 1950 this marker was computed as teriary station SD47/T15 in the Barrow-in-Furness secondary block. Flush bracket S5383 was levelled for height in 1969. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in November 1976. No photos taken.
