From the car park to ESE. Good track all the way up. Pillar sits in a commanding position with extensive panoramic views. Centre cap missing, tube not plugged; front and LHD side sight holes have been plugged but mortor now deteriorating, rear open, RHD side sealed.

For a small hill Cocklerue is easy to access from the nearby carpark close to Beecraigs Country park.. The views are fantastic in all directions. Worth a visit.

Access from Cockleroy Hill car park. Simple 10 minute potter up the hill to the trig. If you are walking some maps show that there is a path going north to Linlithgow but I found access limited and ended up back-tracking up the hill and into Bee Craigs. Bee Craigs Country Park is definitely worth a visit.

Cycle up from Linlithgow. Fairly steep in places. Walked last three hundred metres. Excellent views towards Linlithgow and across The Forth. Helpful indicator plaque on nearby plinth. OS names this Cockleroy Hill. Thank you to clouchandighter 13/4/03 for explaining reason for two TPS recorded at this location and the replacement number being a different series to others in the area.

Good parking in the woodland car park to the west of the Bathgate - Linlithgow road and follow signs for a short walk to the summit. Decent 360 views but got stuck in Linlithgow on the way back as it appeared to be their festival day.

On way to Linlithgow Rose 0-2 Raith Rovers (sadly no giant killing today, but a valiant performance from the underdogs) - lovely little ground too, with a hedge and a hill, and an appreciative big crowd. The pillar is finely set overlooking the town; open cap which today was filled with a bunch of flowers.

Third visit. For GPS reading and updated photographs. SITE VISIT: Approached from ESE. Free car park at NS993742 forms part of Beecraigs Country Park. Straightforward footpath leads through woods to open hill. Cockleroy is a grazing top, just outside country park. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces ENE ~69°. All sight holes open, innards filled with debris. Full 360° panoramic view includes the Ochils, Knock Hill, Fife Lomonds, North Berwick Law, Arthurs Seat, Blackford Hill, Braid Hills, Pentland Hills, Culter Fell and Tinto.

Good condition pillar with FB facing east-ish, cap missing and only vented via west-ish. Cracking views for such a short jag up from the nearby convenient carpark. Visibility across to Dumgoyne, Campsies, Ochils all the way east to the Bass Rock. Splendid!

The caps amiss, nice wee forrestry saunter and hill with a Red Kite hover-hunting. Wonderful vista of the Forth from Bass Rock to Stirling and Trossachs. Neat distance rose too.

Logged 55° 57.102N 3° 37.192W after five minutes of averaging with WAAS. That's within about 6 feet (1.83m) of the stated co-ords. Identical co-ords later obtained after only one minute of averaging. There is now a Geocache within a few hundred metres of this trig.

Visited before, returned to photograph. The view is not just Grangemouth - the rest of it is very pleasant. Typical volcanic outcrop of the Lothians. A popular walk up from Beecraigs woods, a lot of view for little effort. Good condition and with a toposcope for a companion.

Hill named Cockleroy on maps and local signs. Renumbered. Trig pillar was originally built as S3235 on 14th April 1944. Was rebuilt on 17th of June 1958 as S9653. Information kindly supplied by OS 28/03/03. Upon close inspection it would appear that the replacement pillar is built on the original base - different cement. The spider is open. Picturesque view to Ochils, over Grangemouth chemical works & oil refinery. GRP 13/04/03

First visit. To record FB number. HISTORY: Pillar originally completed 14th April 1944 costing £7.3s.9d with flush bracket S3235. Computed as secondary triangulation station NT18/5 within the Dunfermline block during 1946. The pillar rebuilt on 17th of June 1958 with new replacement bracket S9653. Information kindly supplied by OS 28/03/2003. Never levelled for height. Last maintained by the OS in January 1987. No photos taken.
