I parked by the Ford dealer and enjoyed a walk up the road before approaching the lane and locked gate with its many no entry signs. Based on the previous log I wasn't happy to try and get to the trig, I'm doing a charity walk with a charity tshirt on, and not prepared to trespass on land where the farmer has strongly expressed he doesn't want people on there. So admired from much further down the track (FP) and have to make do with that. That said, if you were wanting to get to the trig, there are other ways to access it from the field on the main road. But not for me today.

A cautionary note for all intent on 'bagging' the Darlaston trig point...I 'bagged' it having 'pulled-off' the A51 & parking 'pulled-in' close to the side of the finger-posted lane 'running' SW at GR 87458 35839. 'Jumping' the gate aside that location I proceeded uphill to 'jump' a second gate from which the trig was clearly visible. On exiting the trig field I was accosted by the landowner in his vehicle a Mr Kettle who was most disgruntled with reference to trespass onto his land. He informed me that anyone going over the gate I did is trespassing as is anyone going over the wooden gate on the farm access road. He assured me that the wooden gate on the farm access road is locked at all times & 'served' with a private notice. That said, in fairness to all accessing the gate I did, there's no notice as to non admittance there. Consequential to the farm access road gate being permanently locked is the saddened fact that no one is able to drive upto the farm to seek permission to access the trig. Mr Kettles pretty much made it clear that The Darlaston trig is out of bounds! Looking thro' the comments seems that trig baggers have been ignoring the private no entry sign on the farm access road gate for quite some years, some even parking there & have gotten away with it but I think Mr Kettle's gotten wise & woe betide future baggers if 'caught'! Wouldn't fancy Mr Kettles coming across my car parked by his farm access road gate but then I just wouldn't park there...The joys of 'Trigbagging'!

Parked in a lay-by on the A51. Tried first to access the entrance road to Darlastonwood Farm. However, there was a gate, which was padlocked marked 'private - no entrance'. Hence, climbed over the gate at the junction of the A51 with the PRoW, into the field adjacent the farm entrance. Crossed the field, and then climbed over a gate into the field containing the pillar.
