Couldn't get within 6ft of it due to the bushes and brambles being overgrown. Interesting location.

Parked 1/2 mile up the road in layby. eventually walked the park to waster works and through gap in gate to left, walked perimeter, over a couple of fences and see the stairs but overgrown. mate had shears so cut back, trig on top. clear path now. but will grow back quick. returned to car via a different field and walked back to the road, (this would be the best route in)

Was outside the gate in July but short of time. Since then, checked on here to get an idea of where to look. From the entrance to the waterworks which faces east, across field to south, over fence into orchard, lots of badger holes by fence, then west and over another fence into field to west, north around back of compound, over another fence, a bit broken down and into woods. About a five foot wall to scale to get to the level of the bottom of the stairs. Completely overgrown with brambles and vegetation but railing just reachable. Bushes have grown over the top of the stairs so quite a battle to get onto the top of the reservoir. Expecting to see the pillar. Hmm. Hunted around on each side looking into bushes. A lot of holes in the ground to dodge as well. Eventually had a check on here and managed to work out pillar is on the south east corner of the reservoir. Really? The bushes there are well established and thick but after a bit of scrabbling and peering through could make out the pillar completely hidden. Struggled through to get photographs, FB faces east so extra bit of awkwardness to see that. Rewarding find. Couldn’t really clear much away, would need heavy duty cutting equipment to expose the pillar. It’s in good condition, spider and cap in place.

Firstly, the pillar in a very good condition. Secondly, this pillar is difficult to get to. Previous logs provide details. I accessed via the field to the north. The steps are heavily overgrown both at the bottom and at the top and I had to climb round blockage. Found the pillar deeply overgrown by bushes and weeds. Would recommend accessing in the winter. Access in the summer when brambles are growing must be a nightmare!

A tricky one to get to! I tried before, but couldn't fight through the thick vegetation. I came equipped with tools this time and managed to reach the top of the structure from the northern side, and up the staircase. After a bit of rooting around in the vegetation, I spotted the pillar. An interesting spot, although not much of a view. It should be a bit easier for the next person to access now.

From TR 0151 5942. Through apple orchard to old service resr. Access at NW corner, then head E along the N face to the steps, which were very brambly and highly vegetated. Not possible to walk up steps from the bottom as too much bramble so climbed up onto them about halfway up, using the railings to assist. Once on top of the resr, trig cannot be seen due to it being completely encased in above head-height rampant shrubbery. Pushed through to find the pillar, whcih if not for the shrubbery would be very exposed to the works compound below. Pillar retains an original centre cap, lightly indented lettering; sight holes not noted; no views. This was an awkward one.

In Kent and South East Water joint compound. Casual permission refused due to scaling (very easy) scree slope. However, contact phone numbers provided and a promise of possible escorted access the following day. Expecting the usual "no", I followed Peregrinus's advice and found access surprisingly easy via the orchard to the south at dusk (compound in use till 5,30pm). From NW corner of derilect old resr compound, climb low wall at corner, which gently slopes towards the ground - useful tree helps for short-legged persons like me. Contour round north wall to steps to upper level and trig on top of structure. Brambles not bad (believe water board did a clearance a few years back). Trig then half left, in corner, in thick (not prickly) bushes - unable to clear as workmen still milling below. All great fun! Guess what - given the go ahead the next day, so had to return with arranged escort who decided, not having a key to the side gate (and copious brambles) up the (forbidden) scree slope was the best way up!

A direct ascent up the south face of the reservoir wall using a tree and the ivy as a ladder. I don't recommend it but at least it was mercifully bramble free.

Revisited today as was unable to get close last time - approach was parking to the East next to bus stop and then along field edge along side of house and water board compound, then up the bank through the nettles, through the brambles, over to the 5 foot wall, scale the wall, through the nettles, through the brambles to the bramble covered steps, fight your way through the brambles and up the bramble covered steps to the top of the reservoir, pillar is located in the far left corner hidden in bushes, simples!! good condition farmland views - good score due to getting to it!! :)

This was a tough one. Parked outside water reservoir then over the fence into the orchard. Over another lowish fence into a field beside water works then negotiated the brick wall at its far corner where it was missing a few bricks. Passed along the wall through the nettles & brambles to the stairway leading up to the roof. Couldnt get to the foot of the steps so pulled myself up by the railings. Easy to find in the corner of the roof shrouded by more brambles. vgc with cap & FB

Yes its on top of the old resr structure, at its E end, in edge of scrub. vgc, metal cap, shallow letters. Apparently derelict, the resr is outside the security-fenced area. Once the brambles were trimmed away from the steps, access was easy.

Managed to get within about 15 meters of location on GPS, after walking up the side of the warter works (M2 Side) from there you can go around the far end of the compound, the nearest reading was round the far side. It would appear to be on the top of the large concrete reservior under some dense vegitation. There is a place on the side where you could hop over the wall and climb the stairs to the top, not something I was prepared to do today, may be in better weather.
