Parked on verge by farm at SP484611 and headed east along footpath. Very conveniently there was a detailed map of the estate on a notice board at the start of footpath, including the position of the TP. Across sheep pasture, they were bleating like crazy. Through gate at east end of field, uphill past woods to north then through a gate and up last bit of hill to north east. Great views, all round apart from to north west. Pretty sure the Malvern Hills seen to south west on far horizon. Cap missing. Back at car, farmer was driving in to the farm and asked if next time I could park to north of farm entrance as large vehicles turn south out of the entrance and need space. Friendly enough, asked about the sheep, apparently recently separated from their young. Named as Beacon Hill on OS map. Prefer Fox Hill.

Walked up from boat tied on Oxford Canal near Shuckburgh. Up through sheep fields towards the Hall and then along to Beacon Hill and pillar. This would be a lovely walk on a warm, dry day but on the day before flamin’ June began it was still interesting. The continuation, through very wet, muddy fields, towards Flecknoe was ‘interesting’ and my attempt on the pillar on Bush Hill abandoned. Some other time maybe!

Then walked by house and followed ROW up through the fields of new wee lambs to the pillar on a cold morning. A good start to day 4 of the mad trig bagging trip.
