So from the beautifully restored Snowdon trig my eye spots the familiar shape on the second highest Welsh peak...just a little higher than the Carneddau and a lovely short addition from the PyG. This feels as a summit should... wind scraped, short grass and moss gives way to a snowy ridge, slate mines and spoil contrast beyond. Sea glitters out to Yns Mon and Lleyn where I was on some of my last walks before lockdown two years ago.So all the more uplifting to be on this quiet cold high place today.

The Met Office absolutely spot on again with their forecast. Followed the Pyg track up with amazing views. We had checked social media comments for surface conditions; the slushy snow on the final "zag" of the path was manageable. Then a straightforward trek up to the trig. The score of 8 is based upon the views; the trig is in a very sorry state (see photo).

Crig Goch as it turned out is an amazing scramble on a knife edge of a ridge. There was little wind,no frost, perfect visibility, a great place for an adventure! That said, we did pass a group where one of the party was cragfast. He was shouting "What the ***** have you brought me here for?" and I didn't envy the leader sorting that one out. Had a brew before descending Crib y Ddysgl/Crib Goch, the ridge almost deserted on a bank holiday Monday. Few descend this way. Fun with a big pack but easy.
