602 pillars under my belt now, but this is the first one that's green. It's very striking once you've spotted it, but spotting it isn't so easy, as it's in a wood. (But look closely at the highest bit of the wood and you won't miss it.) Wood itself is very scenic, and makes up for the lack of a vista. Pillar carries a couple of memorial plaques on its reverse face. Top metalwork is all painted over.

Pulled in on side of road at north west entrance to the Heath. East along the path for about 100 metres then south for about 500 metres, uphill at first then down a bit then uphill again. At track crossroads, turned left, east, then left again up onto high ground. Actually quite a steep climb, quite high, at top green pillar stands out. Unusual colour but seemed fitting. Thoughtfully the FB has not been painted. However, sadly, another defaced stamped FB. Good it is being looked after, though. Love the inscription about the nickname and the reason for climbing hills. Quite touching. Dense woodland so no views.

Trig was painted in a pukey bile-green colour, with 2 plaques on the rear of the trig as others have reported, centre tube filled with concrete or asphalt, all sightholes closed. I pushed a 2p coin into the ground at the rear of the trig (below the 2 plaques) for the next visitor to find. The spider was stamped "5 JRW 2017" and the flush bracket was stamped "JO 2017 5 JOHNROYWARD 1963" & a ladybird. Who is this guy?! I'm guessing that this was his 5th trig of 2017?? I think the "JO" at the top left hand corner could have been him starting to stamp "JOHNROYWARD1963" but he must have abandoned it for some reason?

The pillar appears to have been painted pale green fairly recently. There is a commemorative plaque on the back with the inscription: "GORE HEATH SY921921. THIS PILLAR IS IN THE CARE OF THE MARTIN FAMILY OF CANFORD HEATH. (PETER - MARION - SIMON - JULIET - JONAH) Please enjoy this tranquil area and respect it as the home of Nature's little creatures."
