I grew up in Carlton & came up here as a boy in early 1960s. Pillar must have been here then. Houses built later. Indications are it stood above Kensington Gdns, in the dense scrub between houses 77 & 79. See maps below helpfully provided by “eon” and Alan Lodge. Greenhill Rise still steep! Marks for nostalgia.

Reported destroyed and as a pillar block - pillar base with bolt? Either way the GR appears to be atop a steep vegetated bank.

A bit ridiculous coming here just to not see something but hey, that's the lot of the dedicated trigger. First of the day and unfortunately it set a theme.

Not a very 'Green Hill!'. Recently built housing estate, surrounds a small patch of higher ground land. Because of new building, there was no easy access. I walked the circuit along Kensington Gardens and then Russett Avenue, a little to the south. I managed to scale a fence, to this ground from the road, and couldn't find it. Then, I found a resident in Russett Avenue that let me hop over his back garden fence. Again no sign of the trig. He had lived there for a few years, and said he had not seen it either.

Not on my Landranger or Explorer maps and no sign of the trig either. Good view over the railway line SE but otherwise all built up. Isn't it baffling how some pillars survive when houses are built [as I found out earlier this morning] and others don't? Perhaps there is a formula about it..... Anyway, I would be grateful for knowing what the FB number once was.
