Wonky pillar to the right of a hedge behind a nature reserve. Pillar is in good nick other than being at an improper angle. Might have given this an extra mark or two if it wasn't for the bags of dog poo liberally scattered along the path or in the branches. Humans sicken me sometimes.

Parked by water tower about three quarters of a mile north of the pillar. Walked south, past Hayley Woods to west. Where path emerges onto open fields with hedge running south, went to west side of hedge and continued south. Spotted what looked like the pillar but wasn’t sure until getting closer as it looked as if there was something on top of it. It was actually leaning so that’s why it looked a bit odd. Either knocked or rammed. Spider and cap in place. Pleasant location, views of field to west. Wonder if the water tower is also a TP. Evidently not.

(3392) Parked across from the water tower, and followed the PRoW down. A few folks about today and a pleasant enough walk all told. As you exit Hayley Wood you then need to enter the field immediately to your right. This will save you having to scramble over an overgrown ditch further down. Good wide field margin down to the pillar. Easy peasy. Pillar has a pronounced lean to it and a few dings and scrapes but nowt major. All that aside, in reasonable overall condition. Metalwork all present - centre cap with indented lettering. A bit of a milestone this one as it's my 500th extant pillar visited. Pillar history: Built on the 1st of February 1950, at a cost of £9 4s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in July of 1975.
