Easy enough to find from path, winter so no vegetation. I used W3W. 1/4 mile from entrance on RH path and in RH side of woods. I don't live far, didn't know the woods existed 🙄

Parked on the quite non-residential road, Cornalee Gardens (NS 5258 6160), where there is an entrance into the woodland. After ~25m take the track leading off to the right, otherwise straight on leads to a pleasant circular walk. Either way the pillar remains can be found a few metres off the path to the E. Pillar was converted it to a Surface Block in 1989. Many chunks of concrete occupy a shallow depression in the ground adjacent the Surface Block; a number are identifible as from the pillar. No metalwork seen.

Took a while to find a way in to this, Mr U2 didn't like any of the parking spots I suggested and we nearly gave it a miss. However we drove round a bit and spotted a track going towards the trig from within the estate. Still took a while to track down and we were glad to be back at the car and still have all 4 wheels! Spooky we found this on the 11th at 11:11!

Log #204. Couldn't exactly find it, "cage" is gone and GPS was pointing me to a jaggy area covered in leaves. Rough area, so I have no intention of going back for a more thorough look. I may or may not have stood on the block, but I didn't fancy brushing through the leaves for fear of what else I might find. Swift exit, and back to car where two young 'uns were eyeing up my alloys. Likely site of pillar/block.

Remember this trig when it was a pillar back in early 70s. As a boy i was always afraid to go anywhere near it because rumour had it, it was the "Devils grave".

Tried to find this last week. Normally not a problem - it's the thing that looks like a trig at the top of the hill. But not this damaged trig. Knew there was a bit of the base left from previous logs but couldn't find it anywhere. So armed with the coords in my GPS off we set again early on a Saturday morning and with the GPS we found it no problem. As per previous logs, bits of trig in the ditch adjacent and very odd "cage" close by. Don't come here when in the dark or in the evening would be my advice. Looked for the flush bracket on the broken bits bu no joy.

The Man Trap Looks like some sort of \"man-trap\" that has only managed to cacth supermarket trolleys......

Base and bolt with one sighthole still remaining in the base. Bits of broken pillar lying in the hollow beside the base. Not the easiest to find, thank the gods the GPS signal held out until we were on it. Odd scary cage nearby (bit Blair Witch) and "urban picnic spot" (ie, loads of empty cans, scorch marks and a shopping trolley for a seat). Definitely one for daylight. Easy to get to if you park at the gridref mentioned in an earlier post. Track goes up hill then wade through brambles to the spot. Slightly higher mark than usual because it's sort of weirdly fascinating to see the base/bolt plus broken bits!

A Spanish friend asking about these pieces of trig pillar got my story of the fruitless search in the wastelands, rubbish of all descriptions and scrubby bushes behind a Pollock council estate. "So," she said, "Haugh, haugh, ha, ha. It was a trig pillock in Pollock saying bollocks no trig!!" Having brought these bits back to my castle, can I now call my self Lord Haugh Haugh??!! NS527617, LR64. Trig 10 of 13 for the day. First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed around February 1946. In 1947 this marker was computed for triangulation at tertiary station NS77/T49 in the Glasgow secondary block. Flush bracket S3636 was levelled for height in 1969. This trip point was converted from a pillar station to a surface block and completed as such on 3rd October 1989. I was possibly the last sensible person to see this trig alive. The pillar had been badly vandalised, the whole spider (IIRC) was missing and the column had been split open from the top. However the flush bracket S3636 was still in situ. Visited 5/08/1987, GRP.
