What a great walk up from Ridgebourne Road where there is plenty of room for single file, roadside parking. Don't get parking in the car park for Hergest Croft Gardens - they put a chain across the entrance/exit at 6.00pm. Did a geocache at the start of the walk by the entrance to the ridge walk and then continued along Offa's Dyke soaking in the views on the way. Paused at the 8 Monkey Puzzle trees for a couple of photos, then walked over to the Whet Stone. Finally on to the trig where there are fantastic views in pretty much 360 degrees. Enjoyed a moment there before doing one more geocache about 100 meters away. Nice to be so close to the Welsh Border here which is within walking distance. Visited with CherryBubb.

Closest town is 'Cove( 5 or 6 houses); south of 'Cove' is a larger town called 'Midtown'9dozen or so houses); and south of 'Midtown' is 'Poolewe' where the B8057 intersects with A832 - Rubha nan Sasan is at the end of B8057; on the right - can't miss it!! Not damagaed; it is numbered; BUT it appears to be the 1st Admiratly Hydrographic Survey Pillar placed as it is labled 'G 000 K'; and dated 1951 This is a lovely place; for both the rugged beauty and the isolated dismalness that the gunners must have faced being based there. There is a geocache just below the pillar; on the east side.

Another family outing for a long weekend in Lyonshall, this time to celebrate one of my big birthdays. With Old Man, Sis#1 and three cousins on a walk from Stanner, with a pause whilst skirting Hanter Hill to watch the fire brigade tackling a moorland fire, before enjoying excellent all round views from here.
