Great views, easy to find. Circular walk from the top of Keirhill Road up through the farm and then back round via the golf course.

Aerial view

Walked up the path and through the farm from the aptly named Keirhill Road. It felt rather private, but nobody seemed to be about. Nice views over Westhill from the trig. Not so much in the other direction. Trig is in generally good condition. Some sort of stone circle is adjacent.

Good walk up to this one, starting from Blacklaws Brae in Westhill. A bit of works going on near the top (as at March 2024), but provision is in place for walking around it (we made the mistake of thinking the way was blocked, and went through a nearby field to get past the works, having to jump over dykes and barbed wire). No matter, not too difficult a route. Lovely views in most directions from the trig point, including Loch Skene - worth a visit!

Decided to tackle this one from the north-west direction as it seemed to be the shortest and quickest route. There is handy parking (NJ813085) in a lay-by close to the Auchronie Hill turning. I crossed the road (B979) and clambered over a farm gate, and walked around the field in a clockwise direction, as something (grass?) was growing there, to find a wooden fence to leap over onto a grassy path leading up through trees to reach the pillar which is surrounded by a stone circle. This was a very pleasant setting. Noticed the just-climbed Brimmond Hill in the near distance. Pillar has its cap with stamped lettering, and one sight-hole open.

Had read previous log "Parked at gate and walked up and past resr to stone circle", however didn't know where the gate was and couldn't see the farm track from the main road. Parked at some green gates and headed up a track in the general direction of the trig to find myself in another cow field with them all following me. Then once a little higher I could see the farm road I should have been on, so crossed barbed wire fence onto this and headed up to the farm at Souterhill, no one about here so could possibly have driven up to farm or at least to waterworks half way up track. Anyhow I was here now and faced with a gate and a note "cattle in field", I could see that, they didn't bother me going up thankfully and once in the reservoir at the top I spotted some lose barbed wire in the top corner and was soon over at the trig point. Lovely stone circle, great spot. The cows on my return became my best pals and got very close and personal, I tried the hands up making myself look as big as possible and this didn't work. I have never climbed a gate so fast.
