Good view over the Fife coast, and across the Firh towards Bass Rock, North Berwick Law etc. A bit hazy on this visit. A good place to aim for if you want a coastal stroll from Elie/Earlsferry

Parked at caravan park for a short walk to the trigpoint and mast. We investigated the chain walk but only one of us felt brave enough and we had the 3 dogs with us so we left it for another day.

Lots of World War II concrete piles up here, and some substantial parts of old defensive buildings remain. I noticed the large circular bowl of a former gun placement; also many rotting concrete posts which at one time fenced in the area - they stand like ghostly sentinels. Pillar fine, no cap, one sight hole open.

vgc, no cap or plug, in longish grass by coast path. Broken up remains of what do indeed appear to be gun emplacements. Lovely coast view, especially SE to May and Bass. Quick bag from ENE, Shell Bay access road, rain threatening again but stayed dry and turned out a nice sunny autumn day.

Just a few metres off Fife Coastal path. Pillar VGC. Spider has lost OSGB centre cap (open). Rusting vertical centre pipe exposed. FB faces 183°, south. Back sighting hole open, front opening, other two plugged. Views to North Berwick Law, Lammer Law, Skid Hill, Allermuir Hill, Arthurs Seat, West Cairn Hill, Orrock Hill, Benarty Hill, West Lomond, East Lomond, Largo Law. Built 1st October 1943. Secondary station in Block NT48, Edinburgh. Revisited & photographed 3/09/2005, GRP.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed in October 1943 costing £5.9s.0d. Later in 1943 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NT48/13 in the Edinburgh block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1967. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in June 1986. Views across the Forth.
