Walked up Pennine Bridleway from bus stop at former Hargreaves' Arms at Monkroyd on A6068. Hill is Knarrs Hill, although OS refer to the trig site as Knarr Hill.

Second of four today - three on an 8.7 miles run/walk. Approached via the Pendle Way/Pennine bridleway from the southwest. Intrigued by the picnic table up on top of the crags but i guess it gets some use from Walking groups etc. Great views from the top,

(434) As per Trigger monster's log from last year, you could drive to within about 100m of this one; the access track for the farm and sawmill is just about doable in a normal car (there have been a lot of potholes filled in recently) and there is a wide enough parking spot at the foot of the hill. As I was on a walk from Laneshawbridge, I approached on the Pendle Way track. All was going well until I came up on Knarrs Farm, where the farmer had corralled several cattle in the tiny, high-walled farm courtyard - it did not look a safe passage through, so I backtracked and found a fingerpost hidden behind one of the abandoned cars amongst the detritus on the farm drive approach. This path then took me up and round the farmyard, joining up with the Pennine Bridleway. The map didn't really tally with the situation on the ground, then, but it was easy enough to divert around. The climb up to Knarrs Hill, with stunning views out over Pendle Hill and district, with some picnic benches, was lovely - a great spot to visit. The pillar then appeared tucked away on the eastern side of the walled corner. It is weathered but retains a full set of metalwork - cracking trig. Onwards to Kelbrook Moor.

Approached from north west, turning to east at SD929433 was signed as closed road at the time. Wanted to see how far I could get. After about seven hundred metres, turned south onto farm track, just about drivable, a bit rough particularly after crossing stream and going up around twisty section. Able to get as far as gate where path headed south west uphill and pillar was in view next to dry stone wall at top. A group of cyclists ahead of me had dismounted to get through the gate and were looking at me. They asked if I was lost and I pointed uphill and said that’s where I was headed. Result, saved a lot of leg work and time. Spider and cap in place. Good all round views.

3rd and final trig of today's hike. Arrived from the west (Lower Hill). I love the location of this one. Next to a wall which has some picnic benches on the other side. If it wasn't so windy I may have stopped for a swig of my thermos brew. Instead I headed back to Warley Wise Lane and my car.

Walked up from what used to be the Hargreaves Arms on the Keighley road, following the Pennine Bridleway. Gave Knarrs Farm a wide berth as local info said there was a lot of manure to wade through, (or words to that effect.)Nicely situated pillar sat above a little quarry with good views in every direction.

Out walking with Bury HF, starting from Foulridge Wharf. Stopped here for our lunchbreak whilst on an 11 miles walk. Weather was generally quite good apart from a few squally showers. Good views all round.

A gritstone gnoll that is like a miniature of its northern neighbour ar Sharp Haw. Glorious afternoon, almost too sunny. Few lapwing, curlew and fledgling starlings about. Quick walk through the edges of Sheep Hill...with a quick divert to cross the border into current day Yorkshire... slightly let down by the signage. Later go past a glorious flock of Valais Blacknose sheep then back to Alma Inn. Surrounded by other great walk memories in snow, storm, fog and sun.

Approached from cul-de-sac lane to East, then farm access to sharp bend before footpaths. Readily seen from this direction. Passed good bench mark on stone gatepost.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 13th May 1948 costing £16.12s.4d. Computed at tertiary triangulation station SD96/T21 in 1948. Levelled for height in 1962. Last maintained by the OS in May 1976. SITE VISIT: Overall approach from the north. Parked along Warley Wise Lane across bouldered entrance on north side by RoW at SD934434. Entire route is via the Pendle Way bridleway. Pillar on NE side of wall beside style. Column in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces northeast, ~38°. Vented through NW sight hole. Full 360° panoramic view.

Revisit this time up from monkroyd hamlet just of the main A6068 road, parked in old pub car park and followed pennine bridleway straight to trig.The sun was back out for this one great little spot this nice views as well,trig is in vgc with original cap/plug painted in white.

A wintry Sunday in March. Walked from Warley Wise Lane up the well made track which takes you almost to the Trig Point. Good 360 degree views including a brooding misty Pendle Hill with a top coating of snow. Plenty of Curlews about too which was pleasing - this is good Curlew country. Trig in good condition with original plug and fairly recently painted.
