Parked Upper Achnacroish, just before the cottage (NM 7241 3490). Good mast track goes up to second mast site, good path thereafter. Fine vanessa pillar, but suffering with some substantial cracking near the base. Original centre cap retained, raised lettering; RHD side plug degrading, other 3 holes open. Fine panoramic views.

Loved this trigpoint. I've been looking at it for the last 14 years from my living room window. Took the ferry across to Mull with my bike. Cycled from the ferry terminal and half way up the mast track. We'll tracked all the way to the 3rd set of masts. Then a clear path to the trigpoint and beyond to the Corbett summit.

Superb views from the summit on a blisteringly hot day. Took until my 6th visit to my favourite island to bag this. Probably one of the best views I’ve ever had from a summit.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 1st June 1959 costing £9.2s.3d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NM52/28 within the Mull block during 1960. Levelled for height also in 1960. Last maintained by the OS in July 1980. SITE VISIT: Walked from ferry terminal at Craignure. Overall approach from east. Track leaves A849 at NM726350, passes one comms mast and terminates at another. After this the route is fairly straightforward by line of sight but not a continuously defined path on the ground over parts. Vanessa in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces south, ~173°. Vented through three sight holes, east side plugged, innards filled with debris. Long 360° panoramic view from top.

Circular walk from Craignure aided at the start and finish by quick lifts. Dense cloud in no hurry to move upon my arrival. Quite a few nasty cracks developing around the bottom. Need to revisit on a better day.
