Revisit in passing, from Bardonside walkers car park, NJ 2111 5398. Plug now gone, leaving a single Allen screw. Wasnae me!

Still there surrounded by woodland and remains in a good condition. [My route was to walk up the track from the car park at Bardonside NJ 21117 53999.On eventually reaching the fence corner at NJ 21403 51296 leave the track by crossing ditch and walk on the east side of the fence. After 13 posts there is a good gap that gives easy access into the woodland. Walk eastward and then northward to the pillar. This was my way out!! Branches to fight with if you attempt an entry from the southern flank of the woodland.]

Plenty of parking at the end of the single track road. 3km up the wide track, put in for the wind farm, saw us on top. Go past the last cattle grid for a few hundred metres and a good track cuts back through the forest and on up to near the trig. Fantastic views all round although the trig itself is in the trees. With Nozzer.

Log #170. Simple walk up from the small car park just south of Bardonside. No view from the pillar, although there is a cracking one at the corner of the two forests. The indented cap intact, and the pillar is in good nick. Lots of flies. [ExP-142/MiP-3/Rev-2/BM-11/IS-10/Other-2]

Walked up from the car park on the large vehicle track, last 60m through the forest for a quick find. Decided to try for a circular route back through the forest.....track was there in places but some fallen trees, lots of boggy bits and much tougher terrain, suggest you back track and go back the same way you came!

Good view of windfarm on the way

Good walk up the hill, good views of the Moray firth, Elgin and RAF camp. I also walked over to the windfarm to see the windmills close up. Damn they're noisy!

vgc, metal cap deep letters, 20m into plantation, visible from fenceline. Windfarm to W with 2 dozen generators. No view from trig but decent walk.

No views, in trees, which may be just as well. Up track from the north which is now a major highway to a wind farm being built on Cairn Uish.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 18th October 1952 costing £19.8s.3d. Computed as teriary triangulation station Tertiary station NJ45/T37 within the Elgin Secondary Block during 1953. Levelled for height to Class 2 precision also in 1953. Last maintained by the OS in May 1987. SITE VISIT: Approached via track from the north. Accessed from track at NJ210514 via heather. Other unmapped tracks in woods. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS plug with deep indented lettering. Flush bracket on west face of pillar. Wooded surroundings.
