Parked near Oatfield Farm and walked east to Tinker's Lane bridleway then north to a mobile phone mast site. If permission can be obtained, turn left off the public bridleway into the private field and follow the hedge line on the top of the field slope. The closest I could get was to approach the southern side of the pillar on the wrong side of the dense field hedge with the pillar in the adjacent field.

TP5513 Pottershill This is the best view I could get from the adjacent field south of the pillar. Sorry the photo is sideways - I'm new here.©hymek7017

Getting to this pillar is a chore in the summer months. I accessed the field South of the Trig via the mast at Tinkers Lane, then eventually found a way into the correct field through a gap in the fence of overgrown foliage. The pillar is in the South-West corner of this second field, but was protected by a five metre ring of nettles when I visited. Spent the next ten minutes trampling down nettles and creating a path to the Trig. As I was wearing shorts, this trampling also involved plenty of nettle stings. Not much in the way of views and the pillar now has some kind of shrub growing out the top. Nonetheless, I was quite proud to have bagged this one due to the effort required.

Not often its sunny in Wales but raining in England but that's how it was today, so after dropping family at Bristol airport (£9 Bristol low emission zone, £6 drop off and leave at airport--the English, they bleed me dry) I paid a wet visit to this pillar. Filthy under foot but nice to be outside. The two horses standing in mud in the field below looked most despondent.

Heading south on A38, no right turn at traffic lights just before the airport. U turn at roundabout then left, west. After about quarter of a mile turned north, road goes uphill, around a double bend then pulled over on east side of road by entrance to a lane. First of all climbed through hedge into field on east side of lane (I was right first time) but got into my mind I should be further south and on the other side of the road. Went to footpath at corner of road, checked map again then realised my mistake. Across road, up embankment and into long disused horse paddock. Followed hedge line east and spotted pillar by corner of field. Cap missing. A plant is growing out of the centre of the cap. Without the bushes to the south there would be a good view of the airport. Raised S prefix.

I attacked from the 'path' by the mast. A rather sad looking trig out in the wind and rain. Not sure about parking tips given here as I couldn't find anywhere nearby where I wouldn't be blocking access. Pretty noisy with the airport and heavy machinery in nearby quarries. Heard sirens followed by a loud blast. There's a warning sign for horse riders to dismount if they hear the siren!

Follow the obvious path climbing over another metal gate, then spot a metal stile to your centre left view. Climb over stile and turn right following hedgeline up to your quest.
