For some strange reason I couldn’t get my bearings passing through the village of Cheddington. Stopped a couple of times to check the map. Eventually made it to a car park by the recreation ground to the east of the hill. The pillar was visible on top. Crossed the road and through the playing field, hoping for a gap in the hedge. Too dense to get through. Back to road and north to Leeches Way, second turning to west. As far as gate into ploughed field. Went back to car park and rode around to same spot. Around field boundary south east then south west and uphill. Last couple of hundred metres was across a ploughed field, trudged over damp mud, been through worse. At summit good views all around. Ivinghoe Beacon clearly visible to east. Spider and cap in place. Made hard work of getting here.

I miss this out last year as the farmer was working on the land. But today the Trig was sitting in a big empty field, not even any crops in it. So straight forward walk up to it. Good views all around.

Well in 2003 I took a look at this one and promised myself to return and its only taken 7 years! I am marking this down as Slightly Damaged in that there is quite a lot of etched graffiti scratched into the sides of this pillar. It is known by the local youths as a place to go (I know this because my current companion IS one of the local youths...) and several have left notice of their undying love for each other and exactly when they are supposed to have done it and who they are supposed to have done it with. Apparently they call it Nipple Hill because of it's profile with the trig pillar on top. So, I have to say that we cannot honestly rate this as a perfect pillar any more. Functionally it is all there, but cosmetically scarred. In addition there appears to be a quantity of dried manure on the top. Says it all, really...
