My first ever South Coast holiday! Fill yer boots Yorkie lad. Stanpit Marsh trig pillar has a nearby car park and is very easily accessible near to the FP. First views of Christchurch Harbour we are only just above sea level here. Good condition TP but had to battle some nettles to eventually get the FB number as the pillar has sunk a little bit.

Easy to bag from the roadside. Just a very short walk down the side of the Playschool on the recreation ground. The Trig is on the right hand side. Good condition with the spider and cap intact.

I approached this from across the field as I was walking from Christchurch Station; however, the best way to see this is from Stanpit Marsh Car Park. Take the path up the left hand side of pre-school and it's on your right as you get to the gate. You get some views across Christchurch Harbour towards Mudeford and Hengistbury Head. It is surrounded by some nettles though.

From the Stanpit Marsh car park head into the park behind and look down towards Christchurch Harbour. The pillar is just behind the first wooden chair sculpture nearest to the car park. Set amongst some colourful summer foliage, you can just about see the harbour over a bed of water reeds.

From car park at Stanpit Recreation Ground head south east across open ground. Last time I was here was mid eighties to watch a fireworks display. If only I had started trig hunting then! After about a hundred metres, at edge of field near a sculptured bench pillar overlooks the water down towards Mudeford. Child using the pillar as a hiding place, short wait for her to move on. Pleasant spot. Low elevation for a pillar.

Returned from Hengistbury head and back through Christchurch to find the TP on the edge of the reedbeds of Christchurch Harbour. I have a notion that due to the low elevation that this one is slightly sinking.

Stanpit Marsh Lovely location next to the reedbeds.

Nice cycle along the coast at times to get to this one but quite a lot of boring roads as well. Not too sure why a trig was put here. Its almost at sea level.

Shorter than the average pillar - looks like this one has suffered from some subsidance. Easy access, on a footpath and 100m from a car park, on the edge of Stanpit Marsh Nature Reserve - Christchurch Harbour just about visible to SE. Original cap in place, raised lettering; all sight holes below ground level.

Beautiful day by Stanpit Marsh further enhanced by a pair of egrets nearby: such elegant little birds sporting in a spring-like manner! Had to remove a stinging nettle in order to reveal the FB number - managed this without any injuries. At 2m, this is my lowest recorded trig to date.

Clear views over the quay towards Hengistbury Head to the next trig. Easy to locate, right on the footpath leading from the car park of the Scout Hut.

Stopped off en route from Hengistbury Head to Old Man's birthday dinner so a quick in and out. Beautiful evening and good views of H Head. Pillar is sinking as we had to excavate the bottom inch of the FB to photograph it (was lower than Sandisox's photo from a month ago!), and s/holes not visible. Otherwise exc condition complete with metal cap, raised lettering.

Logged while doing some caches in the local area. The plug is original with raised letters. Traces of paint. Sightholes below soil level. On the edge of the local marshy nature reserve so twitchers about! Moderate views over the low-lying area.
