Path behind barbed wire fence is overgrown and impassable, so access is currently across the field. However, fence is crossable (both over and under) to the right of the trig, so the bracket can still be seen and photographed. Cows were over the road at time of visit, so this was a quick and easy bag - my only one today!

This is a great walking area among the Tarrant villages: Monkton, Rawston, Rushton, Keyneston, and particularly Crawford with its superb mediaeval wall paintings within St Mary’s Church. Have been up here several times previously, but inexplicably didn’t record the trig. The pillar, which has an open cap & one s/h open, sits on a trackway which has recently been cleared, making the approach much easier. Dorset was beautifully carpeted with thousands of snowdrops today. Magnificent.

The view, particularly to the north, is mostly of the surrounding rolling downland of fields and woods of the interior of Cranborne Chase.
