Revisit. Sunday morning walk up from Huby via Rigton, commuter villages for Leeds and Harrogate. Red Kites circling. Very windy on top; couldn't stand upright. Profile of the large bolt visible but close approach not attempted. Great views over Wharfedale.

(3953) Busy area today. Grabbed the last parking spot close to the stile - which sports a BM - and then a steady walk up and onto the crag. A surprising amount of graffiti has been carved into the gritstone outcrop. Headed for the highest point and there she was. A scuffed 3'' bolt. Four brass ferrules are located nearby - witness marks? Lovely far reaching views from the summit.

Marked footpath past Meadowbrook to just N of Healthwaite Hall. Track to mast and yellow arrow into barley field, then nothing. Followed perimeter clockwise W of mapped path. No marked path exiting field.Carried on using tractor tracks to Healthwaite Hill. Then due N through gate and down fence line through 2 more gates to Dunkeswick Lodge. Busier but ok road back to N Rigton. 11km, 266m climb 3hrs taking my 82 year old mum for an explore.

Cemented in metal pin / bolt benchmark only so no pillar. Been here a few times over the years and didn't realise it was here. Greatocation and views all around. Easy short but steep in places walk up on path from road with lots if parking. Easier to get up on to the top from the back /east side as it slopes up on that side.

Having visited Almscliffe Crag several dozen times, I'd not previously realised it was a trig point (albeit a bolt; what a pillar this would have been!). I set out on a final walk of 2020 with stunning winter light, and Almscliff did not disappoint. Glorious views in every direction. Bolt has some major dents and scrapes, but it's there and it's not going anywhere. A wonderful trig to end the year.

First visited here on 25/04/09 - a beautiful, clear day. Unaware it was a trig point and didn't climb to the top on that occasion. This time weather not so good but views all round are outstanding. Summit can be reached in about 10 minutes from road - no need for rock scrambling, just choose route carefully. Great Alms Cliff is a great landmark - hard to miss when travelling towards Leeds on the A 660 and very prominent when viewed from The Chevin.

The highest most nearest point to where I live, and a really distinctive landmark, Great Almscliff Crag has some great views of Wharfedale and towards Ilkley Moor and Otley Chevin. A strange type of Trig Point this one being a bolt, first one I've bagged like this! Cold Wind today, and very muddy surrounding the crag.
