Whilst driving along Back Land we serendipitously met an oncoming refuse collection vehicle just by SK30642 51747 and pulled in here to give way. Could see the trig from here, but I couldn’t resist getting a closer look.

Breezy hilltop with many masts. Epic hike up from Ambergate station via steep paths & deserted lanes. Nearby community has wonderful name ‘Spout’. Pillar not on the Access Land but in adjacent fenced compound with two of the masts. Touched through hole in wire fence & spider seen (asphalt plug). FB on side facing into compound, but read later at home by enlarging photo taken through fence from far side.

(3344) Parked opposite the entrance and walked up. The track up to the car park isn't terrible but quite uneven and stoney. Pillar located within a compound. Didn't see any hole in the fence, but a nearby section is damaged at the top which could allow access. Possibly a bit tricky to get out so didn't bother. Pillar history: Build date and cost not listed - as per usual for primary pillars. Last maintained by the OS in July of 1983.

Car park open when I came to visit. A bit of a challenge for the suspension though. TP is in the compound as previously stated and you can touch it OK. I think you could get into the compound if you performed some awkward acrobatics with the fence but not sure about getting back! Great views all round. Must be quite a few other primary TPs visible from here but no obvious hill tops anywhere on the horizon.

Car park has been re-opened, so made a visit to bag this trig. As others have mentioned, it's located inside a compound. Someone has kindly made a hole in the fence so you can touch it from outside - that was good enough for me!

A good viewpoint but trig lies behind fenced compound but is touchable through fence. For the determine it can be reached to get the flush bracket as fence is partially broken nearby. National Trust car park is closed due to anti-social behaviour but there is room to park at the entrance.

Short walk up from minor road to WNW. Pillar sits within a mast compound - it can be seen and even touched from outwith, but access quite straightforward... and necessary to photograph the FB which faces away from the fence. Centre cap missing, tube has an asphalt plug; rear sight hole sealed, other 3 open. Extensive views.

Getting very late and showers sweeping in, massive shame about the transmitters or this would be a lovely spot. Gave the trig a quick tickle and may return to see if I can squeeze through the fence....need to visit Crich, so possible. The third pillar of today and chippy suppers are gifted all three. Something to stick to your ribs after a strenuous day out, the best and must be English.

Gate on track to mast locked (N53° 03.740' W1° 32.735'). Trig in compound, the fence has a hand shaped hole so you can touch the trig, however the flush bracket is on the other side! The fence has been repaired very recently, lots of cable ties so no actually hugging the trig today. Didn't realise there was another car park and a toposcope which is near to the summit, so didn't bag the TUMP.

The viewing platform indicates that you can see Shropshire 63 miles away on a clear day. It was a clear day and the views were great (but you may need binoculars to see Shropshire).

Asphalt cap. Is there a destroyed pillar adjacent? Lots of masts with many microwave dishes. View magnificent and made better by this also being a TUMP.

The only good thing about access to this Trig pillar is the decent car park (for those bagging on wheels) Not willing to risk life and limb scaling security fencing or digging tunnels on this occasion, so just walked the top of the wall on the Northern end of the compound to get a pic. Tend to agree with all previous comments about siting metal work on top of hills, despite this a great view point and good visibility on the day.

Low score due to proliferation of communication masts and the fact that this pillar has been taken prisoner. Views from the nearby toposcope are far better. As others have said, the holes in the fence on South side of the compound have been repaired with cable ties. However, if you go round to the North side and stand directly opposite the second mast you will be able to lift up the fence and crawl in.

First of two trigs on a day's walking with my mate, Tracker Dog. I was wandering on the S slopes of the hill when he shouted he'd found it, in the compound with the masts. It is touchable though not accessible through a hole in the chain link fence. Why not put the fence around the trig or four feet to the side, have they done it to spite trig baggers? Good views all round. On to Bole Hill.

Out with my walking group - The Irregulars, LDWA - and our leader very kindly took us to teh Alport Heights viewing point. So this was an opportunity to visit that was just too good not to miss. Shame that the pillar is confined within a fenced area. It is touchable but I was unable to circumnavigate it. Everything in good area. Flush bracket and OS plaque visible from other side of compound. Nice area spoiled somewhat by the proliferation of masts.

This was a difficult one, as I was constantly being spotted by Sunday walkers as I was attempting to unknit the fence! But I made it inside the compound to bag this trig. The trig was especially happy to see me as he doesn't get many visitor inside the prison most of the visitors just view him from the other side of the fence.

Inside a fence complex on a hill bristling with radio masts. The fence had been cut and loosely tied together with plastic cable clips. However, there were two guys inside one of the other fence compounds so to break the cable clip in their sight would have been unwise. Unable to log the plug but got the FB with the aid of my binoculars

Entire family decamped to a large house on the Chatsworth Estate to celebrate father's 80th birthday. With 10 family members so didn't feel breaking into the compound was appropriate (you are never exempt from a mother's telling off in my experience, irrespective of her or your age!). Beautifully sunny day, so great views from surrounding area.

Superb views from this spot, 360degrees. Seven phone masts, so my mobile nearly burst into flames when I used it. At the top. But the mast people managed to fence in the trig, but you can get right next to it by the fence. I saw no holes in the fence, but anyway the nettles were daunting. Stone plug. Public area (NT). Primary

Hole still there but the netals have all died. Sent my brother in to get the info as i watched out for any cops. My brother is still scared that cctv saw him in the complex and that they are on there way round to get him.

We first visited this pillar on 22.03.97 when the gates to the aerial compounds weren't locked. Tarmac plug.

Famous drive up viewpoint, and a very good view from one of the southernmost 1000' hills in the Pennines over the Midlands, all the way to the Clee Hills. Look to Shropshire though as behind you is a forest of aerials. In one of the aerial enclosures is the pillar. At first I walked a catwalk of the top of a dyke to try and get as close as possible. Of course the plate was on the invisible side. When investigating the view from the other side of the enclosure, I found a hole in the fence, so I was able to get the number.

Fair haul up from Duffield on bike, also run it from Belper. Actual summit not very inspiring (compound etc) but good views in all directions.
