Beautiful views out to sea and the Orkney islands, the most northerly point on mainland UK and lots of wartime history from the arctic convoy's.

Being the most northerly point on mainland Great Britain has to count for something I enjoyed the views of and from the lighthouse before dashing off to Scabster and our ferry to the Orkneys Reassuringly no wind.

Back in the 80's I used to dream about visiting this far away place. So got round to it in the end. Most northerly trigs on the mainland. Stopped by the lochans with it's divers then a long walk round the north of the headland, catching a little Pentland fury on the way. Glorious place.

Marking most northerly point of UK mainland. Constructed 1831, automated 1989. Whilst Northern Lighthouse Board maintains an operational light, many of the buildings are in private ownership.

Was passing here to bag pillar. Also climbed walls and gates to be as far north as one can safely be on the cliff top edge. The roar from the waves below was incredible.
