(4137) Access denied! Ground nesting birds, or so I was told when I arrived. Viewed from the roadside. Pillar sits at 330.2m above sea level. Pillar history: Built on the 25th of August 1947, at a cost of £5.17s.0d. Last maintained by the OS in June of 1963. FB is S4204

3/3 trigs on a triple trigging day with my kids. Gates locked and signs saying private land and no trespassing. Can see trig from the road. Saw some farmers in the opposite field and asked to access, they said it wasn't their land but they wouldn't tell if we were quick. Ran over, got a pic then ran back. They said that the farmer gets annoyed at people leaving rubbish. 3 Highland cows in the field we parked next to also! @smhearn on insta if you want to follow my hiking adventures :)

Quick bag from the road. There is a clear sign telling you it is private but it is only a short distance. Another sign tells you not to steal the logs.

Visible from the road on the east side of the pillar. Nip over gate into field, signs saying private and not to touch the wood where fallen trees have been cut up. Untidy grassy field, pillar on raised area. Spider and plastic cap in place. Good views. OS sheet 111 names this location as Blake Low.

We parked up at the gate mentioned by others, spotted the trig... hopped over the gate.. almost there then the land owner shouts "what are you doing here? You're on private land" then went on to tell us they had 5 dogs in the van to let out... Very rude and clearly vexed. So watch out... think it was just bad timing. We will be wise next time ;-)

Circular walk from Winster and the only way to approach this trig is by road walking, but very quiet lane. You can easily spot the trig over a gate, grass track for 75m and wade out to trig through thigh high vegetation. Many visible signs of the lead mining history and came across a "buddle dam", which can be seen from the notice board adjacent the gate. Two records were broken on Friday, these trigs are for DH and BP.

The notice board on the roadside declare this to be one of the finest views in the Peak District so it must be right The strong cold easterly wind didn't encourage me to stay long. More interested to learn the trig was sat on an old lead mining site,Rainslow Scins. I was told at my B&B the lead made the grass toxic, so no animals are grazed there.

Was in the area doing a circular walk from Elton to Robin Hood's Stride so thought I would take the opportunity to re-visit this one for the GPS data. Full 360 views with Robin Hood's Stride easily recognisable to the north (now I've visited it).

Last one of the day, don't want to be greedy. Great view back to Harboro, so many trigs here not sure where this one lines with. Easy access from roadside, this is just one of those places where I wish I could walk every day, Dark Peak a glorious dark line, western moors play peek a boo to the tree topped hillocks of the Dales. Mines and their spoil covered by thousands of flowers. Glorious.

2nd trig of the day after parking up and walking across from Moor Plantations, nice walk down from previous TP into Winster and across to Elton using PROW where possible to avoid road walking. Access the TP from moor road. TP visible when walking up the road. Used gate near clump of trees to access field and walk out to the pillar.

parked at side of the road on the approach to elton,easy to see from the road,stands quite prominent,not very walker friendly on the short approach,long tough grass,hidden dips.it looks like at some point the trig was white as now it needs a fresh coat!views okay

A walk from Bakewell via Hopping top and Elton.A cold and windy day.Pillar easy to spot off road,unless like me you have your back to it looking over the wrong gate ,missed bus from Elton with this screw up.Still enjoyed nice walk to Wirksworth like heck not a good day for my map reading.

On a day's walk with Tracker Dog, Dyali and Mick via Alport, Robin Hood's Stride, Gratton Dale, Long Dale, Middleton and Bradford Dale. A frosty start but warmed up a touch. Trig is in good condition and 360 deg views. An enjoyable day!

This has been a fabulous day. Four trigs and constant sunshine. You can tell the schools are back! Parked by the gate and then a short, but awkward 100 yards to the pillar - painted white. (Not seen this for a while.) Pub in Elton closed (when I passed), but this gave me an opportunity to reccie Hopping Hill (going to be tricky) on my waty to a pint in the fabulous George in Youlgrave.

Headed out of Elton along Moor Lane. Shortly after this road forks to the right the trig pillar soon comes into view in the fields to your right. Easily accessed through a gate followed by a short walk across field. Disturbed 5 owls that were hiding amongst the hollows of what I presume were former mine workings - first time I've seen owls in the wild !! That's the beauty of trigging - you always see something unexpected. Pillar in good condition except for peeling paint on NE face. Shame the FB has been completely white washed. Average limestone upland views. Now heading back to Youlgreave via Dale End to see if I can reach Hopping Top Trig from this direction.

An easy log, visible from the road and only a short walk after hopping over the gate where there is also room to park. The pillar has an almost complete coat of white paint. Good views, although a bit hazy today.

Ran Leg it round Lathkill then st off on a trig bagging session. Managed to get across from footpath, after setting a groups of walkers straight on their route. Great spot, views not to great but i am sure they would be on a clear day!

FRESHLY PAINTED WHITE. over the gate and across more mine shaft depressions than you can shake a stick at...dont try this in the dark. I knew of someone working their allotment not too far away (in wirksworth) when the ground opened up due to old lead mine workings... he nearly went down the hole. nice views - the gate was tied shut rther than padlocked. Paint is so recent that the grass is still white!. this one looks like it is cared for! there is a bench at the side of the road a few yards from the gate so obviously considered a local viewing point

Trigpoint viewable from gate/road and although the gate was unlocked we decided not to make the mad dash across to the trigpoint itself, so photos taken from the roadside. (Will upload photos when we return home on 21st August)

Excellent views all round, set at 1082ft above sea level, we were advised by a 'custodian'. He also told of the dog graves nearby, some with recent flowers on. He also invited us to a picnic in the summer! Oh and the chair is still there.
