A superb walk. The OS shows a little hill, half access area... belies what a glorious, wild, quiet place this is. Gorse well and truly chopped back. A cool breeze with bands of glittering bright sun being chased by bands of deep cloud. Great Orme hovers before Snowdonia. Visible to the tops to start with. Lancashire or Cumbria a haze beyond the wind farmed sea. Wander into lanes with hills shape changing to the westward higher Hiraethog, forest, moor and windfarm.

Snowy walk up to trig point from my home in Denbigh. Trig point access from south side but trig point is on north side of barbed wire fence. Suspect this may be more accessible over winter as we trampled over a lot of dead bracken to get there Good 360° panoramic views of the sea to the north, Clwydians to east, Berwyns to south east and Snowdonia to the west in clear weather, as well as immediate surrounds of Hiraethog moorland area + Brenig wind farm to immediate south

Parked in lay-by near Bron-haul and walked west along footpath for about 100m and headed up towards trig point. Not too difficult a route at this time of year, bracken all flat. There is a faint path works it's way through the gorse to the trig point. Trig point is on northside of fence in a grazed field.

Pillar in good condition with OS plug which has lettering but base exposed. Great views. Parked on road between two houses. as you look up hill towards the pillar I followed the fence line that runs up from right next to the left-hand house up to it. If you cross the fence part way up you miss all the gorse ;-)

This was a stunning, stunning day to be out in this delightful area of unexploited countryside. There can't be many other spots around here that have better views of both the Snowdonian mountains and the Clwydian Range. The Berwyns too poke out, if only just, quite some distance to the south of this hilltop. I'd set out on this two day hike yesterday morning near to Wrexham and still had some eight hours more to go today to make it back home to Colwyn Bay. It was totally worth the aching calf muscles and sore feet though in the end, getting to absorb all the subtle changes in the landscape along the way at my modest pedestrian pace. Definitely a ten out of ten for overall experience.

Nice view, very pleasant location but be warned over the approaches! To approach from the NE requires access via the private farm. Very thick gorse on approaches from the south following the footpath marked to Foel Gasyth. I suggest you start at the west end of this path, deviate from this footpath northwards across the open grazing land towards Bryn Hyfryd, then turn east and approach the pillar along the fence running NW to SE.

We parked in a layby just above where the footpath starts near Bron-haul to the south east. Foel Gasyth is access land, so it's a matter of finding the best route to the trig avoiding the large clumps of gorse and bracken. Pillar is just north of the fence in sheep pasture. Plug with indented lettering.

This is one of those with the S between the B and M! It's all intact with the original plug. The holes underneath the lugs have been filled in. The NE/SW sightholes are concreted, the others open. Very little paint is visible and the NE face is heavily covered with lichen. The concrete base is generally flush with the ground but there is quite a lot of erosion around the base. Good views all round, especially SW - the NE views are obscured by the hill.
