Originally located near Tamworth. The farmer moved pillar to his yard. Pritch227 then relocated to his garden in Belper. Due to a house move the pillar has then found it's way to the northeast, with a new custodian. Some 141 miles from its original location.

I had the good fortune of meeting Chris & Christine maintaining East Grange TP when I made a visit. They advised me that they had obtained this TP & had moved it up to Bowburn in Co. After posting my Derbyshire trig adventures on the "Find all the UK trig points" facebook group, I received a message letting me know about this trig which currently resides next to a house in Belper. I was however informed that in a few weeks it is being rehomed again, likely to be somewhere much further away. A quick lunchtime drive allowed me to bag it before it moved.

Turned east off A513 about three miles east then south of Alrewas. Four hundred metres east along the road turned south into Grange Farm. Gated entrance. Pressed buzzer. Asked if I could look at the TP? Didn’t know what I was talking about, and they weren’t at home at the time. Fairly short conversation. Map indicated pillar was about a hundred metres north of a public footpath. Headed around to start of footpath just to the east of the railway bridge at corner of road to south west of the farm. Bit of a plod across ploughed field then over a stile quite overgrown with vegetation. Along field boundary then turned north at hedge line joining from the north. Now south of the farm I had pressed the buzzer for about half an hour earlier. No sign of pillar. At this point decided to check on here to discover it was moved. Disappointing. Moved to somewhere in Belper, apparently, be helpful if current exact location could be given.

(2723) Walked straight passed this one the other week, but thanks to an kind invitation, I made sure to find time to add this one to the list today. Pillar moved/rescued from a Staffordshire farm a few years ago and now located at the top of a drive. Apart from a few scrapes, presumably from its uprooting, all is looking good really. And sitting pretty in its new location. Metal work intact and sporting its original centre cap with lightly indented lettering. Excellent! Pillar history: Built on the 13th of September 1938, at a cost of £3 5s 9d. Last maintained by the OS in April of 1978. Marked as destroyed June 2018.

Came to the site of the trig having not checked its current status beforehand according to the previous comments. It wasn't a wasted trip as I was on a walk with my mates Tracker Dog and Rubber Ball, and a good walkabout it was. Mild disappointment not to see it but hopefully it has gone to a good home. Will this be the fate of more trigs? (Our walk centered on Coton in the Elms, England's village furthest away from any coast. The locals call it 'Coton by the Sea')

Popped in to farm to check the condition of this one to see if a rehoming deal could be arranged - farmer was surprised by the pillar's popularity and how the word had got out as to its currently "retired" state - as someone has already collected it and taken it to Belper - exactly where is not known. Got a bonus CBM though on the barn.

I read the log for "trig-man" this morning, so as one of my local pillars, I decided to re-visit this afternoon. Used the ROW from the East. It used to be in the middle of a field which is currently a hay/silage crop. A quick look along neighbouring hedgerows to see if it had been dumped there without success. Returned to road and cycled up access to Grange Farm. I enquired of some men working there and one kindly took me to the far side of the yard where the pillar (no foundation) lies on its side with the FB upward. I was told it had been removed with the permission of the OS as it was an obstacle to machinery when under cultivation. They had wanted the metalwork to be removed and returned, but too attached to concrete. He expressed a desire to dispose of the pillar entirely. Anyone want to offer it a home?

Then I got a sharp shock from an electric fence even though it appeared insulated! Never mind, the trig is in a field through which the path goes so access at that stage is easy.
