After refreshment at the Forest Arms in Brechfa, I walked tiny B-roads then track/bridleway leading upwards anticlockwise to west end of open access block of moorland with pedestrian gateway. Across moorland to pillar. Hot and sunny, farmers busy harvesting hay/silage crop and so calm that barely a turbine turning at the big wind farm in the Brechfa forest. Decided to try the foot path marked on the map through Lancwmbrawd to get back out. But what a mare! signs outside farm-private no access. No sign of a way through. Got into woodland but after thrashing around in dense fern/bramble tangle growing up through brash to above head height and getting nowhere, I gave up and retraced my steps all the way back to Brechfa...hot work!

Easy walk up the track from the layby. Although I made the mistake of squeezing through a wire fence instead of walking further along the track and going in through the gate! Good views of the turbines.

Walked up along PROW. Up farm track and then short up hill before second gate. Trig sits on cairn in bog habitat. Trig is in good condition with spider and FB intact. No views today as sat in a cloud.

Parked at the gate .walked the track. Cattle in open field, no problem. When walking pass the cottage ,we were directed to the trig .we’re told on a good day 5 counties could be seen . Great views today.

Located at summit of the Marilyn Pen-crug-melyn. Short walk from minor road. Pillar in good condition but cap missing and no plug; front and RHD side sight holes open. Interesting feature few metres from trig - old mine entrance or perhaps a chambered cairn. Almost 360deg views, partially obscured to NE by conifers.

It is an intererstingly narrow and steep approach road to get there if approaching from the south east. Parked in field entrance and left family in car whislt I went to bag the trig. There is just a single hop over a low fence at one stage to negotiate, all the rest is along the track and across scrub.
